September 17th Show critique - Ange Hardy 'live' in the studio

Hi all

Here's a lovely show critique from a regular listener on the September 17th Show

You can do show critique too if you wish, just email it to this address

TheRichardHarrisFolkandBluesShow.yahoo.co.uk

1.Hoax                       Hipslicker from Big City Blues

Hipslicker~ Extremely sensual number with powerful overtones demanding a definite invitation in  musical form.

2.Big Scioty with the Buffalo Girls

“You Stay Home With The Baby~O”  A high spirited tune teasing my toes to tap out a number on the floorboards.

3.Ange Hardy          My Old Man~ from  Barefoot Folk

“You Won’t Find Greener On The Other Side”

Simply honest acoustic sound, with a clear and light-hearted voice bringing us the wisdom of the ages.

4.Caroline Herring “Long Black Veil” from Golden Apples Of The Sun

A somewhat mournful tune singing about one of life’s most painful events , that of the unfaithfulness of a lover.

5.   Ange Hardy                           “The Ghosts On The Moors”

Anges’ voice comes through clearly in this presentation of yet another of life’s darkest moments of feeling as if life is passing us by and no one has bothered to acknowledge one’s objective reality.

6. Blind Lemon Jefferson             'Prison Cell Blues'

This was a fantastic listening experience of hearing Blues in its purest, unadulterated form!

(WOW Richard this one is amazing!!! I feel like I’ve stepped back in time to sit in a honky-tonk pub)

7.Ange Hardy                               “Stop Your Crying Son”

A gentle plea is heard in this tender good natured “ditty” that of a mum entreating her wee babe to settle and cease his greetin’. J

8. James Findley                           “British Man O' War”

A universal theme of a loved one shipping out to dangerous lands to fight a foreign war, the sailor sounding eager to be on his way.

9 Ange Hardy                                    “She Moves Through The Faire”

(this is one of my favourite love songs Richard ) I love Ange’s singing of it!!!

Her voice is rich and full of feeling here!

10. Tom Waits                                    “I Want You”

Oh man Richard what a treat this song is. There’s  no second guessing intention on this one!

Thanks for another lovely show Richard! Have a great show tomorrow I’ll listen as I am able!

Show 24 Sept 2013 - Track No 1's

Hi all

Late again, well I never.  So this week's show I thought I'd better get some of the CD's that have been sent in,  Dropbox music files and WAVs / MP3s emailed to me out on the air waves, so I thought I'd play the first track, hence Number 1's and if any one likes them enough we could do ... wait for it .... number 2's next week ...groan groan.  But that would mean someone would have to email in ...crikey.  Some good tunes came out onto the show through as Track 1 is essential to whether you decide to give the rest of the CD a listen and sets the tone of the whole shebang.  So if you wish to have a listen then use the listen again feature and you can get the last 3 shows - click this link

Hope you enjoyed the show ??

Just a much loved regular listener giving some feedback - and my giving myself some self promo

Hello Richard!

I thoroughly enjoyed being able to listen today via Blues and Roots radio replay.
The first number you played; "No Consequence" from the album To Build a Fire, felt like a darker side of the Blues style and I moved into a part of the sound in that number! So WOW and Thanks.

The second one with John Bickley off the album "Pagan Harvest" "Not In My Name"? possessed a very gutsy, straightforward approach sound to it and after being able to listen to the "story behind the song" I understood completely!

I do hope to be able to listen in to the rest later either through the
"listen again page" or later the week via Blues*and*Roots radio!

Thanks for another great show!

Listen in on www.somervalleyfm.co.uk 7-8pm every Tuesday.
