28th January and 4th of February 2013 - The Death of that God Blessed Communist (but leave out the God)

HI all

waking up on Tuesday 28th January to the 8am News on Radio 4 I heard the sad news of the demise of Pete Seeger.  Now different people have different views about his politics but politics stays out of the Folk and Blues Show.  All I can say is that he was there for the music, for the tunes, and the history, depth and breadth that the tunes gave the people of the world who chose to stop and were bothered to listen to them.

So this week's show is for Pete... lots of original Pete songs, sung by him

Luckily I plan my show when I get to the station from work which is around 6pm for a '7pm to go 'LIVE' start'.  One of these days I'll plan ahead, check emails, plan in interviews and may even get a mobile phone !!!  But my last minute shambolic's does have its bizarre benefits when life comes up to bite you in the rear as it did to the Folk world this week, (well the whole world of music really) and as I never quite get my 'rear in gear' I think I'll stay with the format I've got.

This show will be repeated next week as I'm of with some of the other presenters of Somer Valley Fm to collect our Radio Academy Award (used to be The Sony's) for BEST Regional (South West) Station of the Year.

Even had 'Tim for Tom' and a return of 'What's in the Post' so not as shambolic as I thought!! though you may think different.  So please listen to this edition of the Folk and Blues Show and choose for yourself on either of these stations.

You can listen again to the show on
